Gutter Cleaning

Our Gutter Cleaning Process

Gutters are such an important part of your home, especially in our PNW rain! When we clean gutters, we take care to remove built up debris from the troughs, clear the downspouts, and verify that everything is draining properly. We can also clean the outsides of the troughs to remove unsightly stains for an instant boost to your curb appeal. Our process ensures that the goop in your gutters is removed from the gutter system, rather than being washed underground where it can cause more problems later. All debris from the gutters are carefully collected - no mess is left behind in your yard!

Clear

We methodically remove all accumulated debris from the gutter troughs with scoops, or with a leaf blower depending on the gooeyness of the mess. In some cases we use a specialized vacuum hose to clean gutters from the ground.

Inspect

We carefully inspect each downspout for clogs. If any downspouts are clogged, we clear the blockage out and remove any dammed debris.

Wash

Many gutter troughs accumulate blackish stains along the outsides from dripping water. When requested, we can scrub dirt, grime, and organic stains away to give your house an instant facelift.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Generally gutters should be cleaned once a year, depending on the number and proximity of mature trees. In wooded areas such as Fircrest, Edgewood, and Gig Harbor, you may need to have your gutters cleaned twice a year to ensure proper drainage on your property.

It is a good idea to have your roof blown off when you gutters are cleaned so that debris from the roof don’t immediately wash into the gutters. Our Roof Tune-Up service includes removing loose debris from your roof, plus a gutter cleaning, and the application of sodium bicarbonate powder to your roof in order to help prevent organic growth.

  • There are some telltale clues that you can look for to see if your gutters need to be cleaned. Look for erosion on the ground under the gutter troughs from water overflowing. Take a walk around your house in heavy rain and check for any spots that are dripping water. Or try to get a good angle on your roof - if you can see debris accumulated on the roof, then chances are there is debris in your gutters as well.

Generally, if it has been longer than a year since your last gutter cleaning then you can’t go wrong having some pros out to take a look!

  • Clogged gutters mean that water isn’t draining properly away from your house. This can lead to water pooling against your foundation, which is bad news for a lot of reasons (mold, cracking, shifting) and can lead to very costly repairs. Water draining in the wrong places can also erode your landscaping or cause puddles to form on your lawn or hardscape.

  • Sometimes! We never want to be performing work that is better left to a contractor. We can reattach downspout elbows and extensions that have come loose, and can make minor corrections to the slope of the troughs. Any extensive repairs or fixes involving damages or missing pieces will fall outside of our expertise. For these types of repairs we can recommend some local gutter repair contractor.

  • Generally no, but we can recommend some local gutter installation contractor for you!

We can remove gutter guards if you have had them installed and are having issues with them.
