Window Cleaning
Our Window Cleaning Process
Window cleaning is much more than a spray bottle and a paper towel! A full service window cleaning from Beautiful Day involves careful washing of window glass inside and out, screen washing, and track cleaning. Depending on the needs of each property, we clean with traditional squeegees and window mops, or with a specialized tool called a water-fed pole that allows us to access windows up to three stories high without climbing any ladders. A professional clean like this will let in all the PNW sunshine you can get!
We can also clean other types of glass around your home, such as glass railings, skylights, mirrors, and shower panels.
Access
Before we break out the squeegees and poles, we make sure we can safely access our target windows by raising any blinds, adjusting furniture, prepping ladders, removing screens, etc.
Scrub
Washing the glass starts with soapy water. We get some good suds going on the glass, and then we use any necessary abrasives like steel wool or razors to ensure a pristine clean.
(And the scrubbing goes for screens, too! Depending on what each client has asked for, we either brush the screens to remove loose dirt, or run them through our special screen washer to get them pristine.)
Squeegee
The role of the squeegee is to remove all soapy water with the dirt and grime trapped inside. When we use a water-fed pole, this step isn’t needed because we use special deionized water to rinse the windows, so they dry without any spots!
Detail & Wipe
Once the glass is squeegeed, we use a lightweight cloth to detail the edges of the glass and wipe up any water that dripped onto sills or other areas around the window. This ensures that the glass is clean edge to edge without any dirty water left behind :)

Yes! We are happy to tailor our window cleaning services to just what you need. Inside, outside, or both - we’ve got you covered!

Window cleaning is priced by the size and number of panes to be cleaned. A pane is a solid section of glass within a window. Some windows are just one pane, but many windows consist of two or more individual panes. If you are curious about pricing for your exact windows, check out our free quote tool!

For standard window cleaning, we brush the screens to remove loose dirt and give them a quick refresh. If you’d like your screens to really shine, then we can run them through our screen washer. The screen washer is a pair of brushes with water running through them, and the screen is carefully passed between the brushes until every nook and cranny of both the screen and its frame is free from dirt and grime. If you haven’t ever had your screens washed, you will be amazed by the difference in your view after they are cleaned like this!

The pole brush is called a water-fed pole, and it allows us to quickly and effectively clean certain exterior windows, especially in hard-to-reach areas. As we scrub windows with the brush, special deionized water runs through the bristles to wash away dirt and grime. The deionized water then dries spot-free for crystal clear windows.

The simple answer is to have them cleaned when they start to look dirty! A more exact answer is that it really depends on your home or business and the conditions around it. Windows near construction, smoke, pollen, pets, or kids are likely to get dirtier faster. Windows under overhanging eaves or porches might stay cleaner longer. If you live in Tacoma or UP, and are looking for your windows to be consistently clean without having to schedule repeated cleanings, consider our Monthly Mini Window Cleaning service. This service costs $95 and lets you pick up to 20 of your ground floor window panes to get a pre-scheduled exterior cleaning every four weeks so that they are always shining bright! We may be building a route near you, so reach out for more details if you are interested :)

What Your Neighbors Say
Have you ever done the thing where you attack your greasy, dusty windows with a paper towel and a bottle of windex, and then they look all streaky afterwards and seem to almost immediately go back to being dirty again? Maybe you’ve bought into one of those “tips and tricks”, like using newspaper to clean windows, or buying super fancy cleaning liquids to try to get a streak-free finish. Or maybe you just let your windows be dirty because you can’t reach them. It can be surprisingly tricky to get your windows to really be fully clean inside and out, so here are some dos and don’ts for getting crystal clear windows to let in all the winter sunshine you can get!
