Soft Washing

Our Soft Washing Process

Soft washing is also called “house washing”, and involves using low pressure water and specialized cleaning solutions to remove moss, dirt, and organic staining from delicate surfaces around your home. These areas include roofs and siding. At Beautiful Day, soft washing doesn’t just make things look better; it actually resets the surface and slows down the return of unwanted growth.

Property Protection

Before anything gets wet, we carefully remove furnishings; tape over outlets and around electrical panels; and cover AC units, heat pumps, cameras, and other outdoor fixtures that can’t be removed. We then use clean water to saturate all plants that could get hit with overspray so that they don’t drink in the cleaning chemicals.

Apply Cleaning Solution

Using a low pressure hose, we apply a specialized cleaning solution to every nook and cranny of the desired area. As one technician sprays on the cleaning solution, another technician follows behind continuously rinsing any plants in the surrounding area to protect them from cleaning chemicals.

Rinse

Finally, we rinse away the cleaning solution using fresh water from a low pressure hose, taking care to also rinse nearby plants so that no undiluted cleaning chemicals are left behind. Emulsified organic infestations are rinsed away with the cleaner, leaving a grime-free surface behind!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Soft washing uses low pressure water and specialized cleaning solutions to dissolve away dirt, moss, and organic staining. It’s kind of like using dish soap to remove grease from a pan. Pressure washing generally doesn’t involve cleaning solutions and uses only water at very high pressures to blast away dirt, moss, and organic staining. This would be like using a fire hose to remove grease from a pan. Many surfaces are too delicate for pressure washing, so soft washing is often required to ensure that siding, roofs, decking, and other areas can be cleaned safely without damage.

  • We use a solution of sodium hypochlorite and water to emulsify organic infestations, enabling them to be easily rinsed away with low pressure water.

  • Soft washing is appropriate for many surfaces such as composite decking, fences, roofs, siding, awnings, and more. If you aren’t sure whether your surface should be cleaned with soft washing or pressure washing, just give us a call and we can advise on the best approach for your house!

  • These chemicals, by themselves. would not be good for plants - but we know just how to protect your plants! Before any cleaners are sprayed, we drench surrounding plants so that they won’t want to drink up any overspray that hits them. Then, we carefully spray off plants with clean water during and after the application of the chemicals. This keeps grasses, shrubs, trees, and flowers safe from the cleaning solution.

  • Yes! Pets and kids should be kept inside during the process. However, once the cleaner has been rinsed away it will be perfectly safe for kids and pets to come out into the yard again.
